Yep, I’ve been busy. Quietly so when it comes to this blog, as per usual. I’ve been to set at least once, auditioned… and released (finally) the audio version of my post popular book: There’s Nothing About Washing the Dishes. I had talked about it on my Instagram if you’re curious.
I also put out through CD Baby two songs I’ve been sitting on. I don’t feel they’re very good, but also figured what the heck so out they are. And while poking around in CD Baby today I noticed their widget feature.
So I made a widget. I’m putting it in the side bar on this blog. Enjoy or hate the songs: whatever.
My father once told me that he was part of a psychic experiment program – one of those research deals. He actually told me more than once. So imagine how amused I was when I got the role of narrator for…. The Sacred Mushroom: Key to the Door of Eternity By Andrija Puharich.
Why? Because it talked about that subject, and I swear to you it talked about the research facility my father was at. Or at least, it sounds like it. I’m probably wrong but it’s fun to pretend.
And I thoroughly enjoyed the book, too.
The Sacred Mushroom (as I said) was very intriguing. There was a young artist who was being channeled through by a voice from the past. Dr. Puharich, an established researcher into psychic phenomenon, was given the honor of studying the artist for a few years. In that time he was shown the ancient mushroom rituals that allowed people to leave their bodies and travel out.
It touched on Egyptian history and even the language. That was a real challenge because no one today knows for sure how that language sounded, so I had to do a lot of educated guessing. But I managed.

Auditioning for other books showed me that where I’m a great character actress on stage or in front of the camera, I really hate doing it for audiobooks… but I love love love fringe history books. This means I’ve only auditioned for one or two more other books, because I’m making sure I’m going to be able to put my heart and soul into the work. Although today I found a book regarding Native American history – some of which my own ancestors were involved in because it talks about more than those out West – and I will audition for that!
