FlavorThe donation shiny of today's flavor: art cards. Why? Because they're nifty, and fun to have, and I love them just as much as collectors do... and.. uh... they're fun to have... Art cards for the Apocalypse gals isn't as easy as sending an order to the shop: oh no. That would take away some of the fun. The faces are printed, the backs are assembled onto said faces by me, I cut them, then I think I'll wax them. I say "I think" because today's fun was trying out different ways of making the cards and deciding which way looks best. It looks like I'm going to be making them close to how I made the fake Magic the Gathering cards I handed out last year but with a small twist to improve their quality and looks. In ye olde days before computers, cards were waxed and the printer today told me about their hand waxing machines. I don't have a wax machine; just my own innovativeness. When I first came upon the idea of waxing the cards last year, I thought it up because of a faint memory of cowboys making and waxing their own cards. Don't ask me where I got the info from. I couldn't find how to do it anywhwere. I had to reinvent the wheel. Today I've tweaked a little I guess. So let me tell you about the cards. They're each numbered according to their collection with a scene from some past chapter of Akashik and a blurb. I've designed 4 so far... and am forcing myself to behave and not sink more then $10 into the project. I may only produce so many of each design a year, making them even more collectible and fun to grab. Then I'll take them with me to conventions and - yes they are definitely going to be donation shinies. They may become the only donation shinies we offer simply because no one else is doing it and although the other shinies are fun... I really like art cards. If people would like to suggest their favorite scene for a future artcard, I highly encourage use of the forum. That would be fun! Oh, and the team mascot made this recently: Permalink |
